We went to Harris for our honeymoon and so drove through Skye to get the ferry. Sadly that's the only experience of Skye I have (and as I was a bit hungover it wasn't the most happy memory, I felt distinctly green round the gills as we drove along those windy roads!!!), but I'd love to go back and explore. Harris was gorgeous, I really loved it. Interesting comments about not being an islander. I have a friend who lives on the Isle of Wight, who often refers to the mainland as "that other island to the north - you may have heard of it" - I think small island living does change your view of how you see the world.
